Uninstall ESET Cyber Security

  1. Click Finder Applications. Control-click (right-click) ESET Cyber Security and click Show Package Contents.

  2. Expand Contents → Helpers and then double-click Uninstaller.app.

  3. In the ESET Cyber Security Setup window, click Uninstall. To successfully uninstall ESET Cyber Security, you may be asked for your password several times during the uninstallation.

  4. Click Allow to give the uninstaller the necessary permissions to finish the uninstallation.

  5. After successful uninstallation, click Close.

  6. Restart your computer.

Uninstall ESET Cyber Security using the installation .dmg file

  1. Mount and open the installation package (*.dmg file). If you do not have the installation package, you can download it from the Home Downloads page.

  2. Double-click the Uninstaller icon.

  3. In the ESET Cyber Security Setup window, click Uninstall. To successfully uninstall ESET Cyber Security, you may be asked for your password several times during the uninstallation.

    If you receive the "Identity of the installer cannot be confirmed" error

    If the installation of ESET products is being blocked, Control-click (right-click) the installer file, select Open from the context menu, and then click Open when you are prompted by Apple Gatekeeper.

  4. Click Allow to give the uninstaller the necessary permissions to finish the uninstallation.

Manually remove ESET Cyber Security using the Terminal

  1. Open the Terminal, type or copy/paste the command below into the terminal, and press the Return key.
    sudo rm -Rf “/Library/Application Support/ESET”

  2. Type your password in the terminal and press the Return key. Repeat the step with the following command:
    sudo rm -Rf ~/.esets

  3. Restart your computer.

  4. Click Finder → Applications. If ESET Cyber Security is still present, drag-and-drop the item to the Trash bin icon on your Dock. If prompted, type your administrator password and press the Return key.

  5. ESET Cyber Security should be completely removed from your computer.
