[KB2476] Upgrade your ESET Windows home product to the latest version (15.x–16.x)


Users with a valid license can upgrade to the latest product version for free

If you received an error after your product displayed a "Free Upgrade Available" notification, see our Knowledgebase article. If your license has expired, renew it here to upgrade.


  1. Download the latest version of your ESET home product
  2. Uninstall your existing ESET product
  3. Reinstall
  4. Troubleshooting

 macOS users

Have your ESET License Key available

After you upgrade your product, you must type in your ESET-issued License Key in section III to complete activation and restore protection.

Windows 8.1 and earlier users

Beginning with ESET Home products version 16.1, Windows 8.1 and earlier are no longer supported. For more information, see Microsoft Windows Support Policy and ESET products.

I. Download the latest version of your ESET home product

  1. Choose the appropriate download link below:

  1. When prompted, save the file to your Desktop.

II. Uninstall your existing ESET product

  1. Click Start All Programs ESET Uninstall.

    Windows 10 and later users: Click here for uninstallation instructions

  2. After completing the uninstallation, restart your computer.

III. Reinstall

  1. Navigate to the saved installation file on your Desktop from section I, step 2. Double-click the file to open ESET Live Installer.

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install and activate your ESET product. For illustrated instructions on product installation and activation, visit the appropriate page for your product below:

IV. Troubleshooting

  1. If the installation is unsuccessful after performing the steps in parts I–III, uninstall using the ESET Uninstaller tool and then install your ESET product again.

  2. If you are still unable to install your ESET product, contact ESET Technical Support.
