[KB3189] Resolve modules update errors in ESET Windows home and small office applications

Issue

• Update of your ESET Windows home or small office application ended with an error
• You received the "General Compiler Error" message after upgrading to a new version of the ESET Windows home or small office applications
• Your ESET application displays a warning "Modules update failed" as shown below:
  
  

  

Solution

1. Verify that your internet connection is active by visiting the main ESET web page. You must have an active internet connection before you can download updates.

2. Open the main program window of your ESET application for Windows.

3. Press the F5 key to open Advanced setup.

4. Click Updates → Clear → OK.

   Clear update cache is unavailable

   If the Clear button next to Clear update cache is unavailable, restart your computer and attempt to update again.

   After your computer has restarted, repeat steps 2-4. The Clear button should now be accesible.

   

5. Restart your computer.

6. Open the main program window of your ESET Windows application.

7. Click Update → Check for updates.

   

8. If the issue persists, troubleshoot Modules update failed message (Windows) and follow the instructions.
