[KB3189] Resolve modules update errors in ESET Windows home and small office products

Issue

  • Update of your ESET Windows home or small office product ended with an error
  • You received the "General Compiler Error" message after upgrading to a new version of the ESET Windows home and small office products
  • Your ESET product displays a warning "Modules update failed" as shown below:

Solution

  1. Verify that your internet connection is active by visiting the main ESET web page. You must have an active internet connection before you can download updates.

  2. Open the main program window of your ESET Windows product.

  3. Press the F5 key to open Advanced setup.

  4. Click Updates → Clear → OK.

    Clear update cache is unavailable

    If the Clear button next to Clear update cache is unavailable, restart your computer and attempt to update again.

    After your computer has restarted, repeat steps 2-4. Clear should now be active.

  5. Restart your computer.

  6. Open the main program window of your ESET Windows product.

  7. Click UpdateCheck for updates.
