[KB3159] What do I need to do after renewing my license? (Business users)


  • Steps to take after renewing ESET server and/or endpoint products

I am a home user


In most cases, no action is needed after renewing your ESET license.

If one of the special circumstances described below applies to you, follow the instructions given.

Scenarios that require additional steps after renewal

You will be upgrading to version 7 business products
Version 7 business products require a License Key to activate (version 5.x business products required a Username and Password to activate). Your License Key was sent to you in an email after you renewed your ESET license. If you only have a Username and Password, convert your Username and Password into a License Key.

If you do not have your Username and password, you can have them resent here.

Upgrading from version 5.x products

Only certain versions of 5.x products are able to upgrade to version 6.x products which can then be upgraded to the most recent version. Check if your 5.x version can be upgraded to version 6.

If you are using version 5.x ESET Remote Administrator to update client workstations remotely
After renewing your license, upload your updated license (.lic) file into the ESET Remote Administrator Console (ERAC) and then change your ERA username and password. For Instructions, see the following Knowledgebase article:

If you are using a version 6.x ESET endpoint product as a mirror for distributing updates to other client workstations, upload your updated license (.lic) file on the client workstation(s) serving as a mirror.
