Required user permissions

This article assumes that you have the appropriate access rights and permissions to perform the tasks below.

If you are unable to perform the tasks below (the option is unavailable), create a second administrator user in ESET PROTECT or ESET PROTECT On-Prem with all access rights.

Solution

macOS and Linux users only

The deployment of the ESET Management Agent and the ESET endpoint application together from ESET PROTECT via an Agent script installer is available on macOS and Linux only.

Alternative local deployment option

An alternative local deployment option is to create a Live Installer to deploy ESET Management Agent and ESET endpoint application.

New ESET PROTECT instance

If you create a new ESET PROTECT instance, deploy ESET endpoint applications to client computers.

Deploy ESET Management Agent using the Agent script installer from ESET PROTECT

  2. Click Quick links and, depending on the operating system, click macOS devices or Linux devices (in this example, the macOS devices option has been selected).

  3. Click Customize Installer.

  4. Select Deploy Agent first (Agent script installer). Configure other settings as needed. Optionally, click Customize more settings to review additional settings. Click Save & Download.

  5. Download and run the installation package file on a client computer.

  6. See how to deploy ESET Management Agent on a macOS client computer or a Linux client computer. The ESET Management Agent will connect the client computer to ESET PROTECT.

Troubleshooting

  • Occasionally, during ESET Management Agent installation, the notification "Error code 1603 - Installation ended prematurely" appears. Use the following troubleshooting steps to resolve this error:
    • If you run the Agent script installer from a shared location, copy the script installer file to the local disk and attempt the installation again.
    • If the issue persists, collect and submit an ESET Sysinspector log for ESET Technical Support.

Solution

New ESET PROTECT On-Prem installation

If you are performing a new installation of ESET PROTECT On-Prem, deploy or upgrade ESET endpoint applications using ESET PROTECT On-Prem.

Alternative deployment option

An alternative local deployment option is to create a Live Installer to deploy ESET Management Agent and ESET endpoint application.

Peer certificates and Certification Authority

Peer certificates and Certification Authority created during the installation are, by default, contained in the Static Group All.

Deploy ESET Management Agent using the Agent script installer from ESET PROTECT On-Prem

  2. Click Quick Links → Deploy Agent.

  3. Follow the steps below to deploy ESET Management Agent on Windows, macOS, or Linux.

Deploy ESET Management Agent on Windows

    1. Select Windows and verify that the Deploy Agent first (Agent script installer) option is selected. Configure other settings as needed. Optionally, click Customize more settings to review additional settings. Click Save & Download.

    2. Download and run the installation package file on a client computer.

    3. See how to deploy ESET Management Agent on a Windows client computer. The ESET Management Agent will connect the client computer to ESET PROTECT On-Prem.

Deploy ESET Management Agent on macOS

    1. Select macOS and configure other settings as needed. Optionally, click Customize more settings to review additional settings. Click Save & Download.

    2. Download and run the installation package file on a client computer.

    3. See how to deploy ESET Management Agent on a macOS client computer. The ESET Management Agent will connect the client computer to ESET PROTECT On-Prem.

Deploy ESET Management Agent on Linux

    1. Select Linux and configure other settings as needed. Optionally, click Customize more settings to review additional settings. Click Save & Download.

    2. Download and run the installation package file on a client computer.

    3. See how to deploy ESET Management Agent on a Linux client computer. The ESET Management Agent will connect the client computer to ESET PROTECT On-Prem.

Troubleshooting

  • If you receive a "Failed to get installers" or "Failed to synchronize package repository" error while performing the steps below, your third-party firewall could be blocking certain communications based on the country of origin. If this is the case, we recommend allowing communications for ESET PROTECT On-Prem repository.

  • Occasionally, during ESET Management Agent installation, the notification "Error code 1603- Installation ended prematurely" will be displayed. Use the following troubleshooting steps to resolve this error:
