[KB5844] Fix an existing ESET installation using the Setup Wizard

Solution

Export configurations using Setup Wizard

  1. Press the Windows key and type ESET Security.

  2. Right-click the ESET icon and select Uninstall from the context menu.

  3. Double-click the ESET product you want to uninstall.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Click Export. If you do not have the Export option, skip to export using in-product settings below.

  6. Click Browse, select a folder to save the export settings and click Export.

  7. When the export process completes, you will see a window that says Settings of ESET Security was exported successfully. Click OK.

  8. Uninstall and reinstall your ESET Windows home and small office product.

  9. Open the main program window of your Windows ESET product.

  10. Click Setup → Import/Export Settings.

  11. Select Import settings, click the browse icon and select your configuration .xml file.

  12. Select the configuration file that you saved in step 6 and click Open.

  13. Click Import. You will see a message that says The operation completed successfully.

Export configurations using in-product setup

  1. Open the main program window of your Windows ESET product.

  2. Click Setup Import/Export settings.

  3. Select Export settings and click the browse icon to select the save location for the settings export file.

  4. Type the filename for the settings export file and click Save.

  5. Click Export. You will see a message that says The operation completed successfully.
