[KB2872] Unable to send or receive emails after installing your ESET product for Windows

Firewall troubleshooting

This article is part of a series of recommended steps to troubleshoot firewall issues. Start with step 1.

  1. Pause the Firewall to see if it is affecting the connection between your computer and mail server.

  2. With the ESET firewall paused, check to to see if email can be successfully sent and received.

  3. If the issue still occurs with the firewall paused, uninstall your ESET product and check to to see if email can be successfully sent and received.

  4. If the issue is still unresolved after uninstalling your ESET product, verify the following:

    • You have an active internet connection
    • You can send/receive emails when accessing your account directly through the website (for example, http://www.hotmail.com)
    • Microsoft Outlook has been configured correctly to retrieve your email
    • No other firewall is currently installed

  5. Once your issue is resolved, reinstall your ESET product.
