[KB8154] Resolve Error 1603 during Live Installer package installation for ESET PROTECT

Issue

  • Resolve "Error 1603: A fatal error occurred during installation" that is displayed when you install the Live Installer package from ESET PROTECT on a client computer
  • Download and install ESET Management Agent and the security product separately
  • Create the install_config.ini configuration script that contains the parameters for the Agent to communicate with your ESET PROTECT Server

Solution

  1. Open ESET PROTECT in your web browser and log in.

  2. Click Quick Links → SCCM/GPO script. Type the configuration file information, click Save & Download and then click Download next to Configuration GPO/SCCM script.

  3. Download the ESET Management Agent installer .msi file from the ESET download page.

  4. On the client computer, create a new folder, save the Agent installer .msi file and the install_config.ini file to that folder.

  5. Double-click the Agent installer .msi file to begin the ESET Management Agent installation. The installer will automatically use the information from the install_config.ini file.

  6. When the installation is done, check that you see the client computer in the ESET PROTECT Web Console.

    If you still see Error 1603, follow the steps in this article.

  7. Deploy the ESET endpoint products using an installation task in ESET PROTECT or download and install the endpoint product from the ESET download page.
