[KB5657] Open and use ESET Safe Banking & Browsing in ESET Windows home and small office applications

Issue

Details

Safe Banking & Browsing is an additional layer of protection designed to protect your financial data during online transactions.

By default, all supported web browsers launch in secure mode. This is enabled by the Secure all browsers feature, part of Safe Banking & Browsing.

If you disable the Secure all browsers feature, you can open Secure Browser manually. Also, a Secure Browser window opens automatically in your browser when you visit a known banking website.

Solution

Open Secure Browser manually

Devices with ARM Processors

On devices with an ARM processor, Safe Banking & Browsing, including Secure Browser, is only supported by Firefox and Microsoft Edge.

  1. Open the main program window of your ESET Windows application.

  2. Click Safe Banking & Browsing. If you do not see the Safe Banking & Browsing tile, click Show more features.

Your browser launches in secure mode. The secured browser is marked with a green border, and the Secured by ESET label appears on the right edge of the browser.

Fix issues with Safe Banking & Browser or Secure Browser

To fix issues such as the "Safe Banking & Browsing not functional", "Protected browser could not be started", or 0x847695d0 error, follow the steps below:

  1. Disable Safe Banking & Browsing.

    Disabled protection

While Safe Banking & Browsing is paused or disabled, you are not protected when you visit a banking website. Your data is not encrypted, and the driver to protect against keyloggers is not enabled.

  2. Restart your device.

  3. Re-enable Safe Banking & Browsing.

  4. Relaunch the Safe Banking & Browsing protected browser window. To avoid website redirection, use the Secure all browsers feature.

  5. If the issue is still not resolved, manually uninstall your ESET Windows home or small office application and install it again.
