[KB3345] How do I whitelist my software with ESET?

ESET does provide a whitelisting service by which you can submit your software to minimize the chances of false positives, e.g. when your software is being downloaded.

If you wish to register your software for whitelisting, follow the instructions below:

  1. Send an email to whitelist@eset.sk and make sure it contains all of the following information below. Feel free to copy the form into the email body for your convenience. If you are submitting an Android, macOS or other non-Windows program, ignore the fields which do not apply to your software:

Name of your company (the vendor or developer of the software):

Contact information (physical address):

Company's website(s) (if exists):

Name of the software product:

Description of the product:

Product website, download URL, or app URL (if applicable) for a recent version:

Target platform(s) for the software:

Are executable files signed with a valid digital signature?

Do the executable files have VERSION INFO with reasonable information about the product identification and company? (if not, tell us the reason)

Does the software meet criteria to be qualified as a Windows logo carrying product? See Microsoft document “Certification requirements for Windows Desktop Apps” or older document “Technical requirements for the Windows 7 Client Software Logo Program” [https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/mt674655.aspx] (if not, what policy or requirement is not met?)

Android developers: Does the software meet the Google Play brand guidelines: https://developer.android.com/distribute/marketing-tools/brand-guidelines

Is the software modified using run-time packer or protector? Is the software obfuscated?

(if yes, tell us why you need this technology?)

Does the software utilize one or more technologies from this list? If yes, identify them:

  • Advertising Display Software
  • Automatic Download Software
  • Dialing Software
  • Passive Tracking Technologies
  • Remote Control Software
  • Security Analysis Software
  • System Modifying Software
  • Tracking Software

What is the approximate size of the full installer of your product?

What technology do you use for the installer?

(e.g.: Nullsoft Scriptable Install System, Inno Setup, MSI, other:..., custom; no installer - portable software)

How often do you release new versions of your product?

Is the software bundled/distributed with some third-party software? If yes, describe the relation to the 3rd party software.

(Is the third-party software required for the software to function, what is the reason for the bundling, etc.):

Other remarks or comments you may have regarding your software:

  1. Wait for our Whitelist Account Administrators to reply to your email. If this is the first time you are submitting a software whitelisting registration form you will also receive your FTP account credentials in the reply.

  2. Use your FTP account to upload the product you wish to whitelist with ESET. Please submit your files to the appropriate folder, e.g. the one carrying your product name. All folders are being scanned regularly and files are moved to our collection of accepted software. When selecting files to upload, please follow the criteria included in the reply to your registration email.

To ensure the successful and timely processing of your request, please include all of the abovementioned data and follow all instructions for uploading in the ESET-provided instructions in the reply to your registration email. Please be aware that any unrelated requests sent to whitelist@eset.sk will not be processed. To submit Potential False Positives or Malware please use samples@eset.com (read more).
