Upgrade to the latest version

Many of the issues you might be experiencing with your ESET product have been resolved in the latest version. We highly recommend that you upgrade to the latest version:


If your Local Area Network or peripheral network devices are not functioning properly after the installation of ESET Smart Security 4.x, you may need to change the protection mode. The protection mode in ESET Smart Security 4.x determines how your computer communicates in a network environment and was established by the user during program installation.

VIDEO: Switching to Interactive Filtering mode in order to resolve network connectivity issues (4.x)

  1. Open ESET Smart Security. How do I open my ESET product? Then press the F5 key to display the Advanced Setup window.
  2. Click Personal firewall from the setup tree on the left. Select Interactive mode from the Filtering mode drop-down menu.

  3. From the setup tree, click Personal FirewallRules and zones. Click the Setup... button in the Trusted zone section and then choose Allow sharing. Click OK.

  4. Click Personal FirewallIDS and advanced options. In the Allowed services section, make sure all services are selected. Click OK.
