[KB2767] Disable automatic updates in ESET small office and home products for Windows

Details

Keeping modules updated is an important part of obtaining the maximum level of security and protection on your machine. By default, your ESET product checks for updates every hour and downloads new updates when available (typically, 2-3 times a day). However, you can configure your settings to disable automatic updates.

Solution

Disabling automatic updates is strongly discouraged and can leave your computer at risk

If you disable automatic updates, we recommend you configure a daily update task or manually check for updates often (click Update → Check for updates).

  1. Open the main program window of your ESET Windows product.

  2. Click Tools → Scheduler.

  3. Deselect the Update Regular automatic update and Update Automatic update after user logon check boxes. Automatic updates are now disabled.

  4. When you disable automatic updates, your ESET product immediately triggers a security alert. To re-enable automatic updates, click OverviewSchedule update task.
