Firewall troubleshooting

This article is part of a series of recommended steps to troubleshoot firewall issues. Start with step 1.

UPNP rules

As of version 17, ESET Windows home and small office products contain default pre-defined firewall rules for UPNP settings. These rules are set to allow media streaming from your PC to your Xbox or PlayStation. Users should not need to make any changes unless there is a specific device or application you are having an issue with.

  1. Open the main program window of your ESET Windows product.

  2. Press the F5 key to access Advanced setup.

  3. Click ProtectionsNetwork access protection, then expand Firewall and click Edit next to Rules.

  5. Click the toggle next to Hide built-in (pre-defined) rules to disable it and click Apply

  6. The UPNP rules shown below are included in the default pre-defined firewall rules that are activated during installation. Your media should stream freely from your PC to your networked gaming console.

If you are having an issue with a specific device or application, create a firewall rule to allow/disallow the use of a certain application in your ESET Windows home or small office product.
