Solution
ESET PROTECT Hub introduces flexible management types for business customers and resellers. Understanding these types helps you choose the right approach for your organization's security needs.
There are three main management types in ESET PROTECT Hub:
- Self-management
- Co-management
- Full management
Each type defines who controls the security environment and how responsibilities are shared.
Self-management
What it means:
- Customer manages their own security environment without assistance from a reseller or MSP
- Customer purchases a standard subscription and sets up ESET PROTECT Hub independently
Key characteristics:
- Full control over policies, tasks, and devices
- No external access unless explicitly granted
Benefits for customers:
- Maximum autonomy and privacy
- Direct control over security settings and compliance
Benefits for resellers:
- Simple subscription sale; no ongoing management obligations
Co-management
What it means:
- Customer retains ownership of their ESET PROTECT Hub account while granting the reseller permission to assist with security management
- This requires mutual agreement and approval within ESET PROTECT Hub
Key characteristics:
- Reseller and Customer have shared control over policies, tasks, and devices
- Reseller receives delegated access only after the customer explicitly approves the co-management request
How it works:
- Customer self-registers in ESET PROTECT Hub and adds their subscriptions
- Reseller sends a co-management request via ESET PROTECT Hub
- Customer reviews and approves the request
Benefits for customers:
- Expert assistance without losing control
- Flexible collaboration with trusted partners
Benefits for resellers:
- Ability to provide value-added services without assuming full control
- Stronger customer relationships through ongoing support
Full management
What it means:
- MSP manages all aspects of the customer's security environment
- Customers do not access ESET PROTECT Hub; all tasks are handled by the MSP entity
Key characteristics:
- Available only for MSP entities in ESET PROTECT Hub
- Supports both MSP subscriptions and standard subscriptions for hybrid scenarios
Benefits for customers:
- Hands-off approach; security managed by professionals
- Ideal for organizations without dedicated IT resources
Benefits for resellers/MSPs:
- Complete control over customer security environments
- Ability to deliver comprehensive managed security services
Choosing the right management type
- Self-management: Best suited for organizations with internal IT teams that require full control over security
- Co-management: Ideal for businesses that want to stay involved but need expert support
- Full management: Recommended for companies outsourcing IT and security operations
