Issue
- The Mobile Device Management (MDM/MDC) component of ESET PROTECT On-Prem has reached End of Life status
- Important dates
- Only ESET PROTECT On-Prem is affected
- Continuation of protection
Solution
The last supported release of the MDM component for ESET PROTECT On-Prem was version 10.0.14.0, and the last supported release of the MDM component for the ESET Management Agent was version 11.0. The MDM component was removed from ESET PROTECT On-Prem version 11.1 (released July 2, 2024).
Important dates
- End of 2022–December 31, 2023: The ESET PROTECT On-Prem MDM component is in Limited Support status until December 31, 2023
- December 13, 2023: The release date of ESET PROTECT On-Prem version 11.0—the last version that includes the on-premises MDM component
- February 1, 2024: The date the MDM component was removed from the repository to prevent new deployments and upgrades using the Web Console. The version check for MDM in the Web Console will no longer work.
- July 2, 2024: The MDM component is no longer available (even for earlier versions of ESET PROTECT On-Prem). In addition, the ESET Management Agent version 11.1 release will not contain the Mobile Device Connector and mobile device connectivity to the server will be lost.
MDM End of Life only affects ESET PROTECT On-Prem users
The Mobile Device Management component for ESET PROTECT (CMDM) will continue to be fully supported. If you want to continue using Mobile Device Management from the ESET Management console, migrate from ESET PROTECT On-Prem MDM to ESET PROTECT CMDM.
Use the CMDM migration tool to migrate Android devices. All other devices must be manually disenrolled from ESET PROTECT On-Prem and reenrolled to ESET PROTECT CMDM.
To upgrade or learn more about ESET cloud subscriptions, contact your local ESET partner.
Continuation of protection
After December 31, 2023, ESET will not provide technical or development support for the on-premises MDM component. To maintain full functionality, migrate to ESET PROTECT CMDM.
The ESET Endpoint Security for Android mobile app will be fully supported after the on-premises MDM component reaches End of Life status and will provide full protection on all applicable endpoints/mobile devices.
If you stay on an unsupported version of ESET PROTECT On-Prem with the MDM component, you can continue to use ESET PROTECT On-Prem to manage mobile devices. However, you will encounter compatibility issues. We recommend using the latest ESET PROTECT On-Prem version to manage all other endpoints.
