[KB3250] How do I temporarily disable protection in ESET Cyber Security or ESET Cyber Security Pro?

Issue

  • You need to temporarily disable your ESET product to troubleshoot, or to install third party software

Details

Occasionally, during the troubleshooting or installation of third party software, you may be prompted to temporarily disable your antivirus software. If this is necessary, remember to immediately re-enable antivirus and antispyware protection after the installation of other software applications is complete.

Solution

  1. Open the main program window of ESET Cyber Security or ESET Cyber Security Pro. How do I open the main program window?
     
  2. Click the Protection status icon → Disable Real-time File System Protection.

  3. When prompted, click Disable to confirm.

Re-enable protection when you are finished!

When you are finished working with protection disabled, immediately re-enable Antivirus and antispyware protection: Click the Protection status icon → Enable Real-time file system protection.
