During the ESET product installation, users can log into their ESET HOME account to use the license key associated with their account, to activate their product. If the unsecured device is infected by malicious code, the credentials may be at risk of exposure. ESET recommends securing the device before entering the ESET HOME credentials.

Solution

Windows users only

This article is only for Windows users.

Before installing the ESET security product and logging in to ESET HOME, download and install ESET Online Scanner to scan your device.

  1. On your unsecured device, download ESET Online Scanner.

  2. Install Online Scanner. In Step 4 of the Run ESET Online Scanner section, select Enable ESET to detect and quarantine potentially unwanted applications and click Start Scan.

  3. Wait until the scan is completed. If any threats have been detected, resolve the detections.

  4. After your device has been scanned with ESET Online Scanner and there are no active threats, proceed with installing the ESET security product for Windows.

ESET recommends using your ESET HOME account during the installation to use your stored License keys to activate your products.
