[KB8153] Upgrade to the latest ESET Management Agents using the Components Upgrade Task in ESET PROTECT On-Prem

Apache HTTP Proxy users

ESET Bridge replaces Apache HTTP Proxy in ESET PROTECT On-Prem version 10. All ESET product versions compatible with Apache HTTP Proxy are in Limited Support status. If you currently use Apache HTTP Proxy, we recommend that you migrate to ESET Bridge.

Upgrade to the latest ESET Management Agents via Components Upgrade Task

  1. Open the ESET PROTECT Web Console.

  2. Click Tasks NewClient Task.

  1. Type a task Name, select ESET PROTECT Components Upgrade from the Task drop-down menu and click Settings.

  1. Select the check boxes next to I accept the terms of the application End User License Agreement and acknowledge the Privacy Policy and Automatically reboot when needed and click Choose server.

  1. Select the check box next to the latest version of the ESET PROTECT Server and click OK.

  1. Click Finish to create the Client Task and click Create Trigger.

  1. Click TargetAdd Groups.

  1. Under Groups, select the check box next to All and click OK.
If you are running a larger network, with hundreds or more client computers:
  1. Choose a sample of clients for a test update (include at least one client for each operating system/bit category) and run the task.

  2. We recommend using ESET Bridge Proxy (or any other transparent web proxy with enabled caching) to limit network load. The test client machines will trigger the download/caching of the installers. When the task is run again, the installers will be distributed to client computers directly from the cache.

  3. After a successful test update, proceed with the rest of your clients. Alternatively, target the All group. The upgrade is not performed on computers that have already been upgraded.

  1. Click Finish to apply the Client Task to all managed computers. The task may take longer to complete, depending on the Agent replication interval. After the task completes on all computers, ESET Management Agent on all managed computers is updated to the latest version.

Troubleshooting

If the Components Upgrade task is not working properly, upgrade Agents using Run Command task (recommended for advanced users only):
