[KB7617] Using Managed Uninstall in ESET Endpoint Encryption (Windows)

Issue

ESET Endpoint Encryption Client and ESET Endpoint Encryption Client Server are separate products from ESET Full Disk Encryption

The article below applies only to the ESET Endpoint Encryption Client or ESET Endpoint Encryption Server and not ESET Full Disk Encryption.

  • You need to activate and use Managed Uninstall in ESET Endpoint Encryption

Details

Managed Uninstall enables an administrator to prevent users managed by an ESET Endpoint Encryption Server from uninstalling the ESET Endpoint Encryption client software from their machine, even if the user has administrative rights.

Solution

  1. Enable Managed Uninstall
  2. Obtain the Uninstall Code
  3. Uninstall EEE on a managed client machine

I. Enable Managed Uninstall

MSI File

An MSI package downloaded with Managed Uninstall enabled will contain the words Managed Uninstall in the filename. For example, ESET Endpoint Encryption (64bit) 5.4.14 ENU  - My Company (Managed Uninstall).msi.

There are two ways to enable Managed Uninstall:

  • Download Merged Install

    Select the check box next to Enable Managed Uninstall Mode, type an optional password to uninstall ESET Endpoint Encryption on client machines and then click Download.

  • Push Remote Install

    Click Managed Uninstall, select the check box next to Enable Managed Uninstall Mode, type an optional password to uninstall ESET Endpoint Encryption on client machines and then click Post.

II. Obtain the Uninstall Code

  1. Log in to the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server.

  2. Click Workstations.

  3. Select the workstation name.

  4. Click Details.

  5. Click Tools, and select Uninstall Code.

III. Uninstall ESET Endpoint Encryption on a managed client machine

  1. Press the Windows key, type Programs and Features, and click Programs and Features.

  2. Select ESET Endpoint Encryption Server and click Change.

  3. Click Next

  4. Click Remove.

  5. Type the optional password created when Managed Uninstall was enabled, or type the Uninstall Code and click Next.
