Installation on Windows
I. System requirements and installation prerequisites
- Verify that you have a valid subscription. If needed, retrieve your lost or forgotten subscription.
- Verify that your server and workstation operating systems are compatible with ESET PROTECT On-Prem.
- Uninstall any previously installed antivirus software.
On your intended ESET PROTECT Server machine:
- Verify the system architecture type. ESET PROTECT Server does not support 32-bit architecture.
- Verify that all required ports are open and available.
- Install a supported Java Development Kit (JDK) to provide the Java runtime required by ESET PROTECT components. The JDK architecture must match your operating system (64-bit).
- If you plan to install MS SQL Express using the ESET PROTECT All-in-one installer, verify that .NET Framework 4 is installed.
- Ensure that a compatible database and database connector are installed and configured for ESET PROTECT Server. The ESET PROTECT All-in-one installer includes Microsoft SQL Server Express as an option.
II. Install ESET PROTECT Server on Windows
III. Add client computers in ESET PROTECT On-Prem and synchronize ESET PROTECT On-Prem with Active Directory
IV. Deploy the ESET Management Agent to client computers
V. Deploy ESET security solutions on client computers
VI. Post installation tasks
After completing the installation, you can start managing your network using ESET PROTECT On-Prem. The following articles will help you perform common post-installation tasks:
- Create static or dynamic groups to organize endpoints.
- Create and manage policies.
- Create, assign or schedule server tasks (for example, generate reports in ESET PROTECT On-Prem).
- Create or manage your detection notifications.
- Manage your subscriptions.
- Manage client computers using tasks (for example, send a Modules update task to client computers using ESET PROTECT On-Prem).

- Install and configure the ODBC connector.
- Set the server installation file as an executable. In the terminal, run:
chmod +x Server-Linux-x86_64.sh - Install the following packages:
openSSL—the minimum supported version is OpenSSL-1.0.1e-30. We recommend that you use the latest version of OpenSSL 1.1.1.xvfb—required for proper report printing on all Linux Server systems. On Rocky Linux,gtk3is also required for report printing.cifs-utils—required for proper Agent deployment to a Windows OS.- If Active Directory is used on the ESET PROTECT Server:
kinitandklist—required for Active Directory synchronization. Ensure to configure Kerberos properly (/etc/krb5.conf). ldapsearch,snmptrap(optional),selinux-policy-dev(optional),samba(optional; necessary only for remote deployment),lshw.
