[KB2352] Create a firewall exclusion using Interactive mode in ESET Windows home products (15.x–16.x)

Issue

  • ESET Personal firewall is blocking a device or application
  • Local Area Network (LAN) or device network device not functioning properly
  • The remote desktop does not function correctly
  • Resolve network connectivity issues

This article is part of a series of recommended steps to troubleshoot firewall issues. Start with step 1.

  1. Open the main program window of your ESET Windows product.

  2. Press the F5 key to open Advanced setup.

  3. Click Protections Network access protection, expand Firewall, select Interactive from the Filtering mode drop-down menu and click OK.

  4. Attempt to run the application or connect to the device that was blocked. Your ESET product will prompt you to allow or deny each connection not already affected by an existing rule. To create the rule, unblock your application or device, select Create rule and remember permanently and click Allow.

    When you have finished creating rules for the applications or devices you want to allow to connect to your home network, set the filtering mode to Automatic:

  5. Press the F5 key to open Advanced setup.

  6. Click Protections Network access protection, expand Firewall, select Automatic from the Filtering mode drop-down menu and click OK.
