[KB7980] "Clients not activated" alert in ESET PROTECT or ESET PROTECT On-Prem after the endpoint upgrade

Issue

• ESET PROTECT or ESET PROTECT On-Prem fails to activate the endpoint applications after an upgrade
• ESET PROTECT or ESET PROTECT On-Prem falsely displays alerts about endpoint subscriptions expiring soon

Solution

Create a new dynamic group using the Unactivated security application template. Then, run an activation task to re-enter your valid subscription information.

I. Create a dynamic group

1. Open the ESET PROTECT Web Console.

2. Click More → Dynamic Group Templates → Unactivated security application → Edit.

   

3. Click Expression → Add Rule.

   

4. Expand Functionality/Protection problems, select Problem, and click OK. Your new rule will be shown in the operations list.

   

5. Repeat step 4 until you have four identical rules. Then change the problem values to the settings below. Click the value in blue, select the respective setting from the drop-down menu, and repeat for the other values:

   • Product not activated
   • Your subscription expired
   • Protection of your device ends shortly
   • Your subscription will expire soon
   
   

   Now, change the operator in all conditions to = (equal). Click Finish.

   

II. Run an activation task

Run an activation task. In step 7, select the dynamic group that you created in step 5 of this article as the trigger target.
