[KB7119] Incorrect Proxy ID error in ESET Endpoint Encryption

Issue

ESET Endpoint Encryption (EEE) Client and EEE Server are separate products from ESET Full Disk Encryption (EFDE)

The article below applies only to the EEE Client or EEE Server and not EFDE.

  • You receive the "Proxy sync is misconfigured and needs attention" error in ESET Endpoint Encryption

Solution

This error occurs when an attempt has been made to manually reconfigure the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server, and the new configuration is not correct.

An incorrect configuration means the Proxy ID used by the Endpoint Encryption Server is different from the Proxy ID being supplied to client workstations. If this problem is not addressed, you will not be able to activate workstations using the incorrect configuration; nor post updates to the existing workstations that are not using the same Proxy ID the server is currently using.

Please ensure you use the same Proxy ID on client workstations and within the Endpoint Encryption Server.

Endpoint Encryption Server Configuration

The Endpoint Encryption Server uses a Proxy ID value named CompanyKey stored in the registry.

32-bit machines:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DESlock\Enterprise Server\DlpAdm\Config

64-bit machines:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\DESlock\Enterprise Server\DlpAdm\Config

Client Configuration

The client machine Proxy ID value is named ClientProxyCompanyUID. This value is located in the Endpoint Encryption Server config.cfg file. In the Enterprise Server control panel, the value is called DESlock+ Proxy ID and is located under Enterprise Server Account Settings in the Settings section.

This is translated to a registry key on the client of "DeploymentCompanyUID" stored in the registry:

32-bit machines:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DESlock\Client\CentralCtrl

64-bit machines:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\DESlock\Client\CentralCtrl
