[KB8411] Migrate settings from an earlier version of ESET products for macOS to the latest version

Issue

Solution

Migrate your configuration settings from an earlier version of ESET products for macOS to the latest version

In ESET products for macOS version 7.2 and later, your settings are automatically migrated to the new version during the upgrade process. For more information about settings migration in your ESET product, click the applicable link below:

Manually migrate your configuration settings from version 6 after the initial upgrade to version 7 or later

Wrongly migrated TSN RTP settings from version 6

Earlier versions of ESET endpoint products for macOS 7.1 or 7.2, wrongly migrated TSN RTP settings from version 6. If the user upgrades from version 6 to a previous version of the 7.1 or 7.2 build, we highly recommend installing version 9, opening the RTP TSN → For all file operations settings and disabling the Advanced heuristic setting. This setting was wrongly set to On by migration from version 6.

After you upgrade your ESET product for macOS from version 6 to version 7, version 7 imports your version 6 configuration. It only imports feature settings implemented in the current version 7 release. Settings not imported due to missing features are stored and can be used to import the missing configuration to a later version. Settings not yet implemented are stored here:

/Library/Application Support/ESET/Security/Backup/ConfigurationV6

You can use this file to transfer your configuration from version 6 during the next upgrade of your version 7 product. To transfer the missing configuration:

  1. Before starting the upgrade from the earlier version 7 to the latest version, copy the ConfigurationV6 file from:
    /Library/Application Support/ESET/Security/Backup/

  2. Paste it to the folder:
    /Library/Application Support/ESET/Security/AutoImport/

  3. Run the upgrade. All configurations from version 6 present in the version you are upgrading to will be imported. The rest of the configurations, which you can use in subsequent upgrades, will be saved in:
    /Library/Application Support/ESET/Security/Backup/ConfigurationV6
