Issue
- You are using the ESET Endpoint Encryption (EEE) Server to manage users and want to change a standalone client to a managed client
Solution
- In the EEE Server, click Workstations, select Workstation Policy and click Download Settings File.

- Select the appropriate file format, click OK and save the .reg file to a USB flash drive or network location.
Figure 1-2
- On the system with the standalone EEE client installed, copy the .reg file you copied in step 2 to the desktop. Double-click the file to open it. Click Yes to apply the changes to the registry.
- You will be prompted to confirm the registry changes. A notification will be displayed confirming the changes have been applied.
- Click Close, sign out of Windows and then sign back in.
- Double-click the EEE icon to open the activation window.
- Generate a new activation code for the User, then type it into the activation dialog and click OK. Visit our article to activate a managed version of ESET Endpoint Encryption.

- Synchronize the EEE Server and then synchronize the client PC to update the user status. Visit our article to manually synchronize the ESET Endpoint Encryption Client and Server.
FDE adoption
If you are changing over a standalone EEE client that is already Full Disk Encrypted (FDE), you can adopt the Workstation in the EEE Server instead of decrypting the drives:
- In the EEE Server, navigate to the User, select Details and then click Workstations. Visit our article to view Workstation Details.
- Select the workstation, click Goto → Adopt.
Figure 2-1
- Type the previous standalone FDE Admin credentials, the new Admin login credentials and password attempts, and then click Adopt.
Figure 2-2
- In the EEE Server, click Proxy Sync. You should see an alert that reads "FDE Adopt' completed successfully" to indicate the process is complete.
