- BitLocker asks for a recovery key when the system is started
Details
The steps that can result in this behavior are as follows:
- ESET Endpoint Encryption (EEE) is installed, and a Safe Start check is initiated.
- After Safe Start, Windows starts successfully.
- BitLocker is enabled on the system (EEE encryption is not started).
- Windows is restarted.
- BitLocker asks for a recovery key.
Solution
- When prompted for the BitLocker recovery key, type the recovery key for the system to allow it to boot into Windows.
- After Windows has loaded, you can remove BitLocker and set up ESET Endpoint Encryption Full Disk Encryption.
- After BitLocker has been removed from the workstation, follow the steps in the appropriate article to start encryption:
- For standalone versions of EEE, start Full Disk Encryption.
- For managed versions of EEE, start Full Disk Encryption using the EEE Server.
