[KB3703] Password protect program settings on client workstations from ESET Remote Administrator (6.x)

Upgrade ESET business products.

  • ESET program settings are not password-protected on client workstations
  • Remove the password from client workstations that are already password-protected
  • The steps in this article are for ESET Remote Administrator version 6.1.2227 and later (and ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server 6.2.x and later).


 Endpoint users: Perform these steps on individual client workstations

View permissions needed for least privilege user access

ERA 6.5 User Permissions

This article assumes that your ERA user has the correct access rights and permissions to perform the tasks below.

If you are still using the default Administrator user, or you are unable to perform the tasks below (the option is grayed out), see the following article to create a second administrator user with all access rights (you only need to do this once):

A user must have the following permissions for the group that contains the modified object:

When these permissions are in place, follow the steps below.

  1. Open ESET Remote Administrator Web Console (ERA Web Console) in your web browser and log in.

  2. Click Admin Policies and then select the policy that you want to modify.
  3. Click PoliciesEdit.

  4. Expand Settings and select ESET Endpoint for Windows from the drop-down menu.

  5. Click User Interface, expand Access Setup, and then click the slider bar next to Password protect settings
    Removing passwords from client workstations
    If you are creating/editing a policy to remove password protection on client workstations, first click the slider bar to enable Password protect settings and then click it again to disable them. This is a necessary step to ensure that the password protection is removed from client workstations. Continue to step 7.

  6. Type the password in the New password and Confirm password fields. Click OK to save your changes.

  7. Click Finish to save your changes. Client computers assigned to this policy will receive the changes the next time they check in to the ESET Remote Administrator Server. Assign a policy.
