[KB8717] ESET PROTECT reporting ESET Inspect Connector is installed but not running

Issue

  • Your ESET PROTECT reports that ESET Inspect Connector is installed but it is not running

Solution

Following the recent release of the ESET Inspect version 2.2 hotfix, some endpoints in environments with the auto-update enabled may report in ESET PROTECT that the ESET Inspect Connector is installed but not running.

We are currently working on a fix for this issue.

In the meantime, if some endpoints are stuck in this state, follow the steps below:

  1. In ESET PROTECT, disable auto-updates using the appropriate policies. Navigate to PoliciesBuilt-in Policies and ensure that auto-updates are disabled in both Common Features and ESET Inspect Connector policies.

  2. Uninstall the installed but non-running ESET Inspect Connector version 2.2.4100.

  3. Reinstall ESET Inspect Connector version 2.2.4101.

  4. When ESET Inspect Connector version 2.2.4101 is running, you can re-enable auto-updates in ESET PROTECT.
