How do I enable or disable HIPS in my ESET product?

Issue

  • HIPS is disabled after upgrading from version 4.x or earlier
  • Disable HIPS for troubleshooting purposes

Solution

HIPS is enabled by default

You only need to re-enable the HIPS module if you have upgraded from version 4.x or earlier, or if you have disabled HIPS for troubleshooting purposes.

  1. Open ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus. How do I open my ESET product?
     
  2. Press F5 to access Advanced setup.
     
  3. Click Antivirus → HIPS, click the slider bar next to Enable HIPS and then click OK.

  4. Restart your computer.

Disable HIPS protection for troubleshooting purposes

Troubleshooting only

You should only disable HIPS if instructed by ESET Customer Care, or for troubleshooting purposes. When you are finished troubleshooting, be sure to re-enable HIPS protection.

  1. Open ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus. How do I open my ESET product?

  2. Press F5 to access Advanced setup.
     
  3. Click Antivirus → HIPS, click the slider bar next to Enable HIPS and then click OK.

  4. Restart your computer. 
     
  5. When you are finished troubleshooting, open ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus and click Enable HIPS

  6. Click the slider bar next to Enable HIPS and then click OK.

  7. Restart your computer.
