[KB3318] Disable the Firewall in ESET Cyber Security

Solution

Disabling the Firewall is not recommended

With exceptions, such as diagnosing/troubleshooting system problems. The steps below will disable HTTP, POP3 and IMAP scanning. This represents a potential security threat to your system.

Use the following instructions cautiously and re-enable the Firewall as soon as possible.

Temporarily disable Network Access Protection for troubleshooting purposes

  1. Open ESET Cyber Security.

  2. Click ProtectionsNetwork Access.

  3. Click the toggle next to Firewall to disable it. Firewall activity will be suspended until you re-enable Firewall. Proceed to troubleshoot your issue.

    Re-enable the Firewall when you finish troubleshooting

    After troubleshooting, continue below and re-enable the Firewall to ensure maximum protection.

Re-enable Network Access Protection

  1. Open ESET Cyber Security.

  2. Click ProtectionsNetwork Access.

  3. Click the toggle next to Firewall to enable it. Network Access Protection is now re-enabled for your system.

  4. An alert window may appear stating that your device is connecting to a new network. Specify whether the network you are connected to is Private, Public or Guest. Read more about about network types and configuring network profiles in ESET Cyber Security.
