Configure automatic threat notifications in ESET Remote Administrator Web Console (6.x)

Issue

  • Configure ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) to automatically generate a threat report notifying you when a new threat is detected on a client.

Solution

End of support for version 6.4 and 6.5 of ESET Remote Administrator / MDM

ESET Remote Administrator version 6.5 is currently in Limited Support status and will soon be in Basic Support status. It is expected to reach End of Life status in December 2020.

ESET Remote Administrator version 6.4 is currently in basic support status and is expected to reach End of Life status in December 2019.

The MDM functionality in ESET Remote Administrator version 6 is in Basic Support status as of April 11, 2019. After this date, MDM version 6 will no longer be available for download.

  1. Open ESET Remote Administrator Web Console (ERA Web Console) in your web browser and log in.

  2. Click Admin NotificationsNew Notification.

  1. Type a Name and optional Description for your new notification in the appropriate fields.

  1. Expand Notification Template and select Other Event Log Template from the Notification Template drop-down menu. Select Antivirus threat or Firewall threat from the Log Type drop-down menu to determine the type of threat that will trigger a notification.

Advanced Settings—Throttling

Using default settings, a notification will be triggered any time that a threat is detected. You can use the Aggregation feature under Advanced SettingsThrottling to configure notifications so that they are sent out after a specific number of occurrences. To do so, expand Advanced SettingsThrottling and enter the value for the number of occurrences you want to trigger a notification in 2 fields:

  • Number of Ticks to Aggregate
  • Triggered every no. of occurences

  1. Expand Distribution. By default, notifications are sent by email. Type the subject line you want to use for notifications into the Subject field and then type the email address where you want notifications sent into the Email Addresses field. Click Finish.
