[KB7166] Decrypt a memory stick or external disk using ESET Endpoint Encryption

Issue

ESET Endpoint Encryption (EEE) Client and EEE Server are separate products from ESET Full Disk Encryption (EFDE)

The article below applies only to the EEE Client or EEE Server and not EFDE.

  • Remove important data from the encrypted folder

    If the removable media device is encrypted using the File Mode Encryption, removing the encryption will delete the contents of the encrypted folder permanently. It is critical you remove any important data from the encrypted folder before decrypting the device.

 

Solution

Full Disk Mode / File Mode

    1. In the Windows notification area, right-click the ESET Endpoint Encryption (EEE) icon.

  1. Select Removable Media Removable Media Encryption and then select the applicable device from the list of disks to remove encryption.

  1. Click Decrypt.

  1. Click Yes.
File Mode Encryption users

This action will delete all encrypted files. Verify all important documents have been backed up.

  1. When the decryption is complete, click OK.
