  • Create a policy to have client computers connect to the ESET Remote Administrator Proxy (ERA Proxy)

Details

The advantage of ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) Proxy is that you can use it when connecting to a remote branch office. This means that the ERA Agent on each client is not connecting to the ERA Server directly, but rather via ERA Proxy, which is on the same local network as the branch office.

Prerequisites

Define a policy for clients to connect to ERA Proxy

ERA 6.5 User Permissions

This article assumes that your ERA user has the correct access rights and permissions to perform the tasks below.

If you are still using the default Administrator user, or you are unable to perform the tasks below (the option is grayed out), see the following article to create a second administrator user with all access rights (you only need to do this once):

A user must have the following permissions for their home group:

After these permissions are in place, follow the steps below.

Because communication between the ERA Server and client computers is managed by the ERA Agent, the best way to instruct all clients to connect to the ERA Server through the ERA Proxy is by using a policy. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Open ESET Remote Administrator Web Console (ERA Web Console) in your web browser and log in.
     
  2. Click Admin  Policies New policy

  1. Give your new policy a name, for example "ERA Proxy Server settings for ERA Agent". The Description field is optional.

  1. Expand Settings and select ESET Remote Administrator Agent from the drop-down menu.
     
  2. Expand Connection (expanded by default) and click Edit server list next to Servers to connect to.

  1. Click Add and type the IP address of the server where ERA Proxy is installed into the Host field. When you are finished, click OK to close the Add window and then click Save.

  1. Expand Assign and click Assign. Select the groups or client computers that you want to connect through the ERA Proxy and click OK.

  1. Click Finish when you are finished making changes. Client computers on your network will receive these changes the next time that they check in to the ERA Server.
