Solution
ESET Endpoint Encryption Server (EEES) version 3.5.0 and later are compatible with SQL 2019 and earlier. Machines using the All-in-one installer will automatically upgrade from SQL 2012 to 2019.
In earlier versions, database files were stored in the Program Files directory. For example, C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.DESLOCKSQL\MSSQL\DATA\
.
In EEES version 3.5.0 and later, database files have been moved to ensure stability and security with the upgrade. When upgrading using the All-in-one installer, the SQL upgrade process copies the pre-existing SQL database files and stores them in a new folder in the ProgramData directory. For example, C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Endpoint Encryption\Server\EEESDB_14-02-44_19-10-2022\DATA\
.
In future SQL upgrades, a new folder will be created as a part of the upgrade process. If the system administrator has configured a backup utility to use the SQL instance, the current instance DESlockSQ will point to the new file location.
Backups created using the EEES backup functionality will continue to work as normal. To ensure up-to-date backups are maintained, users using a backup utility that creates file-level backups will need to update the folder directory to the new SQL database directory path.
