[KB7157] Activate ESET Endpoint Encryption Client using ESET Endpoint Encryption Server

Issue

ESET Endpoint Encryption Client and ESET Endpoint Encryption Server are separate products from ESET Full Disk Encryption

The article below applies only to the ESET Endpoint Encryption Client or ESET Endpoint Encryption Server and not ESET Full Disk Encryption.

Visit ESET Full Disk Encryption support to view ESET Full Disk Encryption content.

  • Activate a managed version of ESET Endpoint Encryption using ESET Endpoint Encryption Server (version 3.0.0.0 or later).

Solution

  1. Generate activation codes on the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server
  2. Activate ESET Endpoint Encryption on a client workstation
  3. Verify that the user has activated ESET Endpoint Encryption
Before the activation

I. Generate activation codes on the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server

  1. Log in to ESET Endpoint Encryption Server.

  2. In the Users view, click the user for whom you want to generate an activation code and click Generate Activation Codes.

    Generate an activation code for multiple users
    • Select multiple users: Hold the CTRL key and click each user. Then click Generate Activation Codes to finish the code generation process.
    • Generate an activation code for all users without a generated activation code: Do not select any user. Click Generate Activation Codes and finish the code generation process.
    Add a user

    To add a user, click Add and proceed as instructed in the Add User(s) dialog box.

  3. In the Generate Activation Codes dialog box, select the ESET Endpoint Encryption platform you want to activate. If the SMTP settings are configured on the server and you want to send the activation code through email, select the check box next to Send users Activation Code in an Email. Click Generate.

  4. Select the license you want to use and click Generate.

  5. An activation code for the selected users is generated. If you used the email option, the activation code is also sent to the users. You can now view the activation codes.


View users' activation codes
  1. Log in to ESET Endpoint Encryption Server.

  2. In the Users view, click the user whose activation codes you want to view and click Details.

II. Activate ESET Endpoint Encryption on a client workstation

  1. Activate ESET Endpoint Encryption based on how you received the activation informaion.


    Activation email

    In the activation email for ESET Endpoint Encryption, click Activate ESET Endpoint Encryption.

    Activation code

    In the ESET Endpoint Encryption (Activation Required) dialog box, type or paste your activation code and click OK.

  2. If required, set up a password for ESET Endpoint Encryption and log in.

    ESET Endpoint Encryption Password might not be required

    The password requirement depends on the configuration of the "Use Windows Password" workstation policy on the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server.


    Set up the ESET Endpoint Encryption password

    1. Type a password into the Password field, confirm the password in the Confirm Password field and click OK.

      Password Policy

      If Password Policy is enabled, your password must meet the specified reqirements. Hover over the Password Policy bar to view the requirements. The bar fills green when you meet the password requirements.

    2. Type the password into the Enter Password field and click OK.

  3. Your ESET Endpoint Encryption is activated.


II. Verify that the user has activated ESET Endpoint Encryption

  1. Log in to ESET Endpoint Encryption Server.

  2. Click Proxy Sync.

  3. Check the user's status. The status of a user with activated ESET Endpoint Encryption is User is active and the user's icon is green.

  4. Check the user's workstation: click the user whose workstation you want to check and click Details→ Workstations. The workstation where the user activated ESET Endpoint Encryption appears in the Workstations list.
