[KB7097] Create a firewall exception in ESET Endpoint Security for macOS (6.x)

Issue

  • ESET Firewall blocks an app from running
  • Create an exclusion to allow Skype on macOS

Solution

 ESET PROTECT and ESET PROTECT On-Prem users: Perform these steps in ESET PROTECT.

  1. Open ESET Endpoint Security for macOS.

  2. Click Firewall.

  1. Click Setup.

  1. Click Add.

  1. In the Name field, type a name for the rule and then type the application path or browse for the application. If you are allowing Skype, type:
    /Applications/Skype.app
    and click Next.

  1. In the Action drop-down menu, select Allow, in the Direction drop-down menu, select Both and then click Next.

  1. In the Protocol drop-down menu, select TCP & UDP, in the Ports drop-down menu, select Remote, in the Remote Port drop-down menu, select All and then click Next.

  1. In the Destination drop-down menu, select Entire Internet and click Finish.

  1. Repeat steps 4-8 to add all other exceptions. If you are allowing Skype, add the following exceptions as separate rules:
/Applications/Skype.app/Contents/Frameworks/Skype Helper.app
/Applications/Skype.app/Contents/Frameworks/Skype Helper.app/Contents/MacOS/Skype Helper

The new rules will be displayed in the Firewall rules window. Close the Firewall window to return to the main ESET program window.
