  1. What is ESET Server Security VM extension for Microsoft Azure?
Virtual machines can be compromised by malware just like physical machines, which is why ESET offers the same level of protection (ESET Server Security) on the Azure cloud computing platform. Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing platform that enables users to quickly and easily install a virtual machine running Windows and/or Linux operating systems, as well as other software.

  2. After selecting the ESET Server Security VM extension, does ESET Server Security install automatically?
Yes. Installation is performed in the background. Standard installation is not required, however you can perform a manual installation of ESET Server Security on an Azure virtual machine.

  3. Can ESET users use an existing license to activate the ESET Server Security VM extension?
Yes, users with a valid ESET Server Security license can use it to activate the VM extension.

    To activate the product:

  4. What are the operating system requirements for the Windows Server version?
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2019
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2, 2012

  5. How do I upgrade/install the ESET Server Security VM extension in the Microsoft Azure portal?
    Upgrade/install the Azure extension.

  6. Can users connect ESET Server Security to ESET PROTECT to remotely manage the product?
Yes, ESET Server Security can be managed using ESET PROTECT when all prerequisites are met. You can install the ESET PROTECT Agent during extension installation using a configuration (.ini) file.

Manage ESET Server Security using ESET PROTECT and port requirements for communication between these programs:
ESET PROTECT Wake up calls cannot be used in Microsoft Azure

The Wake up call feature, which typically functions to accelerate communication between ESET PROTECT and client computers, is blocked by Azure virtual networks.

  1. What languages does ESET currently offer for the ESET Server Security VM extension?
ESET Server Security 7.x for the Azure platform is available only in English.
