Solution
The ESET Social Media Scanner reached its End of Life on August 4, 2020. This API-based app was initially designed to protect users from malicious content distributed through Facebook, Twitter, and VKontakte. Due to increased restrictions on third-party API applications, the removal of Facebook protection, and the strengthening of Twitter’s built-in security, the app is no longer available after August 4, 2020.
What has happened with my ESET Social Media Scanner Profile?
After August 4, 2020, ESET Social Media Scanner was removed from the my.eset.com portal. If you use other ESET products on your devices, you can still enjoy complete protection on social networks:
- Facebook – We partnered with Facebook in 2014. ESET protection technology covers the Facebook platform.
- VKontakte and Twitter – If you have an ESET security product installed, you are protected. If you were using ESET Social Media Scanner as a standalone tool, consider installing an ESET security product to keep your device protected against malicious content distributed through social networks.
