Solution
You may encounter the Windows error message “Error Writing to Disk” when installing your ESET product. This error is usually related to one of the following reasons:
- Insufficient rights to write to Temp folder
- Not enough space on disk
- Missing Temp folder(s)
- Damaged archive
To resolve the issue:
- Verify that the following folders exist:
C:\Windows\Temp and C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp
- Verify that the "Temp" and "TMP" folders are listed in the Environmental Variables area:
Windows NT/2000/2003/XP: Click Start, right-click My Computer, and click Properties. Click the Advanced tab and then click Environmental Variables.
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Click Start, right-click Computer, and click Properties. Click Advanced System Settings in the left column. Click the Advanced tab and then click Environmental Variables.
- Using Windows Explorer, verify that the folders listed in 'Environmental Variables' actually exist. If so, delete and recreate them (C:\Windows\Temp\ and C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp), and then attempt to reinstall ESET NOD32 Antivirus.
