[KB2938] I can't see any folders on my Desktop / My Start Menu is empty - Hidden Remover Tool

• Can't see the Desktop
• Can't see files, folders or programs that are normally on the Desktop
• Start menu folders are empty
• Unable to right-click Desktop background (no context menu opens on right-click)
• My Documents / Documents folder is empty

In some cases malware may cause files and folders to "disappear" from the Desktop the Start Menu. The Hidden Remover Tool is designed to restore items to your Desktop, Start Menu and other relevant locations.

Run Hidden Remover Tool

The Hidden Remover Tool is specifically designed to automatically restore items to the Start Menu, Quick Launch and Pinned Taskbar, as well as any items that might have disappeared from your Desktop. To restore hidden files, follow the steps below:

1. Right-click the following link, select Save As (Save link as for Firefox users) from the context menu and select your Desktop as the save destination:

2. Once the download is complete, navigate to your Desktop and double-click the Hidden_Remover.exe file; or right-click it and select Run as administrator.
    
3. Once the tool has finished running, verify that files, folders and menu items that were previously missing have been restored. If certain objects are still hidden, restart your computer.
