[KB6282] Temporarily disable the startup scan in ESET Cyber Security and ESET Cyber Security Pro

Issue

  • System startup scan hangs or takes too long to complete

Disabling the ESET startup scan exposes your computer to risk

The following procedure is only a temporary fix to allow the resolution of a third-party application conflict. If possible, we recommend that you check for other applications that are scheduled to run at startup and either deselect their startup features or uninstall the conflicting software from your computer. ESET is unable to provide support for third-party applications.

 

Solution

 Windows usersclick here

  1. Open ESET Cyber Security or ESET Cyber Security Pro. How do I open my ESET product?

  2. Click Tools → Scheduler.

  1. Deselect the check box next to Automatic startup file check with the Launch time set as User login (there will be multiple Automatic startup file check tasks).

  1. The startup scan is now disabled. To re-enable the startup scan, open the main program window, click Tools → Scheduler and select the check box next to Automatic startup file check.
