[KB3258] How do I exclude files or folders from scanning in ESET Cyber Security?

Issue

  • File-level scanning of some email servers, backup software, or applications is causing system interrupts or system slowdowns
  • Exclude specific files, folders, drives, or devices from Real-time file-system protection and all scan activity (Startup scan, On-access scan, and Computer scan)

Solution

Removable device

If you exclude a removable device (iPod, iPad, etc.), it must be inserted and mounted before you begin.

Exclusion formatting

By default, when you add a folder or a drive to exclusions, the wildcard symbol (*) is added to the end of the path. This means the entire folder/drive will be excluded from scanning.

  1. Open the main program window of ESET Cyber Security.

  2. Click ESET Cyber Security in the macOS menu bar (at the top of the screen) and click Settings.
