Safe Banking & Browsing protection is an additional layer of protection designed to protect your sensitive data while browsing online (for example, financial data during online transactions or confidential corporate data).

In ESET Windows home products, the Secure all browsers feature allows you to open a supported browser in secure mode automatically.


Solution

Devices with ARM Processors

Safe Banking & Browsing protection is only supported by Firefox and Microsoft Edge web browsers on devices with an ARM processor.

Enable the Secure all browsers feature

  1. Open the main program window of ESET Windows products.

  2. Click SetupSecurity tools.

  3. Click the toggle next to Secure all browsers to enable it.
    Safe Banking & Browsing protection must be enabled

    To enable Secure all browsers functionality, the Safe Banking & Browsing feature must be enabled.

    Browser restart is required after enabling Secure all browsers 

    A browser restart is required after enabling to allow the full functionality of the Secure all browsers feature.

Configure your Browser Protection and Secured Browser settings

  1. Open the main program window of ESET Windows products.

  2. Press the F5 key to open Advanced setup.

  3.  Click ProtectionsBrowser protection and expand Safe Banking & Browsing. In this section, you can configure the settings listed below. When you are finished, click OK to exit the Advanced setup.

    • In the Browser protection section, click the drop-down menu next to Extension installation mode to change the type of extensions supported by a specific browser that can be installed on the secured browser (we recommend selecting All extensions).
    • In the Secured browser section, click the toggle next to Enhanced memory protection, Keyboard protection, Browser's green frame, or Clipboard protection to enable or disable these settings.

Open the Safe Banking & Browsing secured browser

When Safe Banking & Browsing protection is enabled, you can open a secured browser by clicking the Safe Banking & Browsing icon on your desktop or directly from the Overview screen:

  1. Open the main program window of ESET Windows products.

  2. Click OverviewSafe Banking & Browsing.

Additionally, when the secured browser opens:

    • If the Website Redirection is enabled (it is enabled by default even when the Secure all browser feature is disabled), the secure browser opens when you access banking or payment websites in your browser.
    • If the Secure all browsers feature is enabled, the secure browser opens when you access any website in your supported browser.
  1. The ESET Secure Browser opens with a green border surrounding it and with the small Secured by ESET tag on the right side of the window. You can click the ESET logo for more information and settings.

    Accessing the secured browser using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)

    If you access the secured browser using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), the ESET badge and browser window border turn orange, and the notification will be displayed.

Add or remove protected websites (16.2 and earlier users only)

If you do not want to access all websites via the secure browser, you can add specific websites that you want to open with the secure browser to the Protected websites list. Only websites added to the Protected websites list will be opened in the secure browser.

  1. Open the main program window of ESET Windows products.

  2. Press the F5 key to open Advanced setup.

  3. Click Web and EmailBanking & Payment protection. Click the toggle next to Secure all browsers to disable it. Confirm that the toggle next to Enable protected websites redirection is enabled and click Edit next to Protected websites.

  1. Click Add to add the desired website that you want to access via Secure Browser to the Protected websites list.

  1. Type or copy/paste the desired website in the Website page field. Select an option next to Open this website with (in this example, Secured browser is selected) and click OK.

  1. The website will be listed in the Website column. You can also change how you want the website to open (in this example, Secured browser is selected). To edit or remove an existing website, select the desired website and click Edit or Delete, respectively. Click OK.

Disable Secure all browsers

You can disable the Secure all browsers feature so that all websites will open in normal browsers.

Disabling Secure all browsers

By disabling Secure all browsers, only websites from the Protected websites list and ESET internal internet banking list will redirect to the secure browser. You can select which browser (standard or secured) is opened.

  1. Open the main program window of ESET Windows products.

  2. Press the F5 key to open Advanced setup.

  3. Click ProtectionsBrowser protection and expand Safe Banking & Browsing. Click the toggle next to Secure all browsers to disable it, and click OK to exit Advanced setup.

Pause or disable Safe Banking & Browsing

Disabled protection

While protection is paused or disabled, the Safe Banking & Browsing secure browser will not launch when you visit a banking website. Data is not encrypted, and the driver to protect against keyloggers is not enabled.
