To download, unpack, install, and configure ESET Server Security for Linux, follow the steps below.

Download ESET Server Security for Linux

  1. Download the installation package for the latest version of ESET Server Security for Linux.

  2. Before the installation, verify that you do not have a different ESET security application or any other antivirus software installed on your computer. If yes, uninstall this software from your computer .


Install ESET Server Security for Linux via Terminal

Installer without unnecessary modules 

Since version 10, the ESET Server Security for Linux installation package contains only essential modules. ESET Server Security for Linux is only partially functional after the installation.

To have a fully functional application, you need to either:

The application is fully functional after the upgrade if the previous version was activated and had all modules.

  1. Use one of the following commands to run the ESET distribution script with root privileges for the appropriate operating system distribution you have, and follow the on-screen instructions:

    ./efs.x86_64.bin
    sh ./efs.x86_64.bin
    Gain .deb or .rpm installation package

    To gain .deb or .rpm installation package suitable for your operating system, run the ESET distribution script with -n command line argument:

    sudo ./efs.x86_64.bin -n

    or

    sudo sh ./efs.x86_64.bin -n
  2. To see the dependencies of the installation package, run one of the following commands:

    dpkg -I <deb package>
    rpm -qRp <rpm package>
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions. After you accept the application Terms of Use, the installation will complete and display the Web interface login details.

  4. The installer will inform you of any dependency problems.

Install ESET Server Security for Linux via ESET PROTECT or ESET PROTECT On-Prem Software Install task (remote)

Deploy ESET Server Security for Linux using ESET PROTECT or ESET PROTECT On-Prem.

Install ESET Server Security for Linux via ESET PROTECT Live Installer (local)

ESET PROTECT On-Prem users

Live Installer for ESET Server Security for Linux can be created only in ESET PROTECT, not ESET PROTECT On-Prem.

ESET PROTECT enables you to create a Live Installer package to install the ESET Management Agent, ESET Server Security for Linux, and ESET Inspect Connector together.

Install ESET Server Security for Linux using ESET PROTECT Live Installer.


Activate ESET Server Security for Linux

Activate your ESET Server Security for Linux using a subscription obtained from your ESET distributor.

You can activate ESET Server Security for Linux using the Web interface in the Status Overview > Subscription section with your activation key and account credentials (registered ESET Business Account (EBA), ESET MSP Administrator (EMA) or ESET PROTECT Hub users), an offline activation file, or ESET PROTECT.
