ESET Server Security for Microsoft Windows Server features

ESET renamed server products

In the 8.x release, ESET changed the name of ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server to ESET Server Security for Microsoft Windows Server.

The latest version of ESET Server Security for Microsoft Windows Server is designed to protect servers (domain controllers) in network environments.

ESET Business Edition users

ESET Business Edition products have been replaced by ESET Server Security (for servers), ESET Endpoint Security, and ESET Endpoint Antivirus (for workstations). Upgrade ESET business products.

The latest version of ESET Server Security for Microsoft Windows Server includes key features specific for server use. A key advantage is that recommended server installation settings are built into ESET Server Security for Microsoft Windows Server (see Automatic Exclusions below). There is no need to set the best practices exclusions onto a server operating system or desktop computer used in a server role. This functionality is one of several server-specific features included in ESET Server Security for Microsoft Windows Server.

  • Anti-Malware: This technology prevents attacks and eliminates all threats with cloud-powered scanning for even better detection rates. It uses a layered security model where each layer, or phase, has a number of core technologies.
  • ESET LiveGuard Advanced (formerly ESET Dynamic Threat Defense): ESET cloud-based service. When ESET Server Security detects suspicious code or behavior, it prevents further threat activity by temporarily putting it into the ESET LiveGuard Advanced quarantine.
  • ESET Cluster: ESET Cluster enables managing multiple servers from a single location. Joining workstations with nodes will offer additional management automation due to the ability to distribute one configuration policy across all cluster members.
  • OneDrive scan: This new feature is added to scan files in OneDrive cloud storage. It is available for the Office 365 business account.
  • Processes Exclusions: Excludes specific processes from antimalware on-access scanning.
  • Automatic Exclusions: Includes automatic detection and exclusion of critical server files. All required exclusions are automatically set based on installed software and server roles (on restart).
  • New Advanced Setup Tree: Redesigned for more intuitive navigation. Settings are divided into the Server protection sector (to manage all of the settings related to server protection) and Computer protection (to manage malware and infiltration protection on the host machine level).
  • e-Shell (ESET Shell): Command line control interface that offers advanced users more comprehensive administrative options.
  • ESET PROTECT On-Prem: Offers better integration with ESET PROTECT On-Prem, including scheduling an On-demand scan.
  • Component-based installation: Customizes installation to contain only selected product parts.
  • Hyper-V scan: Allows for scanning of Virtual Machine (VM) disks on Microsoft Hyper-V Server without the need for an Agent on the specified VM.
  • Firewall: Controls all inbound and outbound network traffic on your computer based on internal rules and rules set by you.

ESET Server Security also includes some features not available in ESET endpoint products, such as:

  • Enhanced Log Viewer: More powerful options to search and sort log file entries.
  • SysInspector Integration: No need to download the standalone application as SysInspector is now integrated into the program.
  • Improved graphical user interface for streamlined management.
