[KB7124] "(Removable Disk) is not supported" error in ESET Endpoint Encryption for Removable Media

Issue

ESET Endpoint Encryption (EEE) Client and EEE Server are separate products from ESET Full Disk Encryption (EFDE)

The article below applies only to the EEE Client or EEE Server and not EFDE.

  • You receive the "(Removable Disk) is not supported" error message when inserting a new USB drive

Solution

This error can be caused due to the following situations:

  • The drive has its own hardware encryption: USB drives protected by hardware encryption block access to the drive until it is unlocked. Since the USB drive has its own encryption, it cannot be encrypted with ESET Endpoint Encryption. Select the check box next to Don't show again for this drive and click OK.

  • Another product installed on the system blocks access to the USB drive: Some encryption and security products can be configured to block access to USB drives. Change the product settings to allow access to this drive. If this is not possible, try disabling or uninstalling the product, then see if this message continues to be displayed.
  • There is an issue with the USB drive: Check the drive on another system to ensure it works correctly.
