[KB6631] Pause protection in ESET endpoint products

Issue

  • Disable protection for a short period of time

Solution

Protection layers assigned by policy

If your EES instance has an enabled protection layer assigned from a policy, the pause protection functionality will not be operational for the specific layer.

If all protection layers are enabled and this setting is pushed by policy, the pause protection functionality will not pause any protection. All toggles for protection layers in the product will appear grey if their state is pushed from the policy.

Users with ESET Endpoint products (version 6.5 and above) for Windows installed on their machine can use the Override feature. Override mode enables users on the client-computer level to change settings in the installed ESET product, even if there is a policy applied over these settings.

Protection in ESET endpoint products can be disabled temporarily to allow for troubleshooting. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Ensure that override mode is allowed in your current policy for endpoints.

  2. Right-click the ESET icon in your system tray and select Pause protection from the menu.

  1. Select how long you want to pause protection from the drop-down menu and then click Apply.
