[KB2300] How do I check my Windows ESET product installation package or other ESET tool for a digital signature?

Details

A digital signature is an encryption technique used to verify the source of transferred data (for example., messages, installation packages, etc.). If a file is damaged or modified, its digital signature may become lost in the process.

Solution

  1. Navigate to where you saved the file, right-click it and select Properties from the context menu.

  2. In the file Properties window, select the Digital Signatures tab and verify that ESET, spol. s r.o. appears in the Signature list (it should be the only entry in the list). Select the signature and click the Details button.

Do not run an unsigned tool or installation package

If you do not see the Digital Signatures tab, your operating system may not have the latest security updates, or the digital signature may have been removed from the file. To prevent possible damage to your system, do not install/run an unsigned tool or installation package.

  3. In the Digital Signature Details window, select the General tab and then verify that the note below Digital Signature Information reads This digital signature is OK.

Do not run an unsigned tool or installation package

If you do not see this note, the file may have been modified. To prevent possible damage to your system, do not install/run an unsigned tool or installation package.
