How do I upgrade ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server to the latest version?

Before upgrading, complete the following steps:

  • Perform a System State backup on your Microsoft Exchange Server. See the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article for assistance.
  • Make sure that you have your ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server (EMSX) Username, Password and license file available. If you have lost this information or need to request a new Username, Password or license file, visit our Lost License page
  1. Open ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server by double-clicking the ESET icon  in your Windows notification area.

    ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server 4.3 and earlier users: To preserve your existing program settings, complete the steps to migrate your settings and then continue from part II below. Click for instructions to check your product version.

  1. Click Setup Import and export settings.

  • Select Export settings and click ... to select a location where the .xml file will be saved.

  1. Type a name for your configuration file into the File name field and click OK to save your changes.


 

II. Install the latest version of ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server

  1. Download the appropriate version for your system from the links below (check your product version):
  2. Select Save when prompted and save the file to the Desktop.
  3. Double-click the ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server installer icon. If you are prompted by Windows to open the file, click Open.
  4. Click Next to continue. If prompted, confirm that you want to install ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server, as well as any associated device drivers.
  5. Select I accept the terms in the License Agreement and then click Next.

  1. The Installation Mode window will appear. Select Use current settings and click Next.

  1.  Click Install.

  1. When installation is complete, open ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server by double-clicking the ESET icon  in your Windows notification area.
  1. Click Setup Import and export settings.

  1. Select Import settings, click... to browse to the location where you saved your config file in part I and then click OK. This will restore the program settings from your previous installation.
