[KB2795] Password-protect Parental Control settings

Solution

This article applies to the following ESET products:

  • ESET Internet Security
  • ESET Smart Security Premium
  • ESET Security Ultimate
Password protection

By default, the Parental control password you choose to protect your Parental control settings will also be the program settings password in your ESET product.

If you do not use Parental control, configure a settings password without enabling Parental control.

Before you configure ESET Parental Control

Windows user accounts must be available for each person accessing the computer. Without completing this important step, Parental control is ineffective in shielding children from inappropriate web content.

  1. Set up Windows user accounts for each person accessing the computer. For information on setting up Windows user accounts, click the appropriate link below:

  2. Open the main program window of your ESET Windows home product.

  3. Click Setup → Internet protection.

  4. Verify the toggle next to Parental control is enabled and click Protect all settings with a password. Type your new password into the respective fields and click OK.

You will now be prompted for a password when you attempt to access password-protected features or settings in the user interface.
